The Garden Series

The Garden Series

The Fern & Feral Garden Series

Grow Slowly. Grow Honestly. Grow What Fits Your Life.

Gardening doesn’t fail people.
People fail because gardening gets explained like a spreadsheet instead of a relationship.

I didn’t create this because I had it all figured out.

I created it because I was tired.

I love growing my own food—but for years, I followed all the rules. I did everything “right.” And still, every season felt the same: a stretch of hard work, followed by more hard work, and then suddenly an overwhelming flood of tomatoes and zucchinis all at once… only for the garden to feel overgrown, exhausted, and finished almost overnight.

It never felt like a rhythm. It felt like a cycle I couldn’t keep up with.

At some point, I realized it wasn’t that I was failing—it was that the way I’d been taught to garden didn’t leave room for real life. There had to be a simpler, steadier way to grow food. A way that didn’t peak all at once and burn out just as fast.

This series—and the app alongside it—are my attempt to build that better rhythm. Not perfect. Not optimized. Just sustainable, human, and something you can actually live with.

The Fern & Feral Garden Series was created for people who want to grow food, but don’t want it to become another thing they’re bad at, behind on, or overcomplicating.

This series is intentionally progressive. Each level meets you where you are—and only asks you to carry what you’re ready for.

No skipping ahead required.
No shame if you linger.
No pressure to “graduate.”

How the Series Works (and Why It’s Paired With the App)

The books teach you how to think about gardening.
The Fern & Feral Garden Planner app helps you remember when to do things—without turning your garden into a productivity contest.

The app exists to:

Hold timing so your brain doesn’t have to

Adapt suggestions to your climate and plants

Support the rhythm you’re building—not replace it

You stay in charge.
The app just taps you on the shoulder when it’s time.

The Levels

Level 1 – Overwhelmed → Beginner

Theme: Permission
Learn the absolute basics. Build confidence. Ignore the noise.
Perfect if you’ve always wanted to garden but didn’t know where to begin.

Level 2 – Beginner → Experienced Beginner

Theme: Rhythm
Learn to read plants, water intuitively, harvest confidently, and wait when waiting is the right move.
This is where the app begins gently supporting seasonal timing.

Level 3 – Experienced Beginner → Novice Intermediate

Theme: Intention
You start making choices instead of guesses.
The app helps you plan ahead—but only as much as you want.

Level 4 – Novice Intermediate → Intermediate

Theme: Stewardship
You’re no longer just growing food—you’re tending land over time.
The app becomes a long-term memory for your garden.

If gardening has ever felt like something you should be good at but weren’t—this series is for you.
